Learning Resources
Below are a select number of learning resources freely available on the web to supplement revision and tuition. Ask your tutor for further recommendations.
- www.sqa.org.uk — The site of the exam body, the Scottish Qualifications Authority.
A useful place to start is by downloading their 'Your Exams' booklet, which describes the exams process and has tips on how to prepare. Specimen question papers are on this site, and for parents of younger students there is guidance and specimen papers for 5-14 National Assessments. - www.hsn.uk.net — A very useful free resource for people taking Highers.
Contains excellent, well-structured revision notes for the most common Highers subjects, including Maths, English, Chemistry, Physics and Computing. We recommend using it to support your class notes. - www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/education/bitesize — BBC Bitesize, a revision tool for people doing Standard Grades and Highers.
It has test papers which it marks for you, great for revision and confidence boosting. If you're doing Higher, go to the "Hot Links" section for plenty of additional web resources. - www.leckieandleckie.co.uk — The publisher of past papers for Standard Grades, Intermediate I and II, Higher and Advanced Higher.
Find out here if past papers are published in your subjects. - www.mind-mapping.co.uk/make-mind-map.htm — An explanation of how to construct a 'mind map', an alternative way of revising.
If you're finding during revision that there seems to be too much information to take in, mind mapping may help you order your notes and therefore retain more of the detail of the subject.

What parents and students say about us
students say …
My tutor is always friendly and makes the two hours a week as interesting as possible.
Eilidh (Roseburn)
I liked that my Maths tutor went over everything I didn't understand and suggested that I use prompt cards. For English I was given great advice on how to maximise my marks.

Gemma was fantastic, Hugo really enjoyed the sessions and we can see the improvements already, especially in his maths. We will contact you for more tuition next summer.

Just getting back in touch to say that Tom achieved a 'B' pass in his Geography, up from a 'D' in his prelim, and all due I'm sure to Ferdia's excellent work! He has emailed her to let her know, and that he is therefore into Glasgow to study Zoology in 2010, after a gap year. We are all delighted!
